Agility Robotics has introduced Digit 5, the next version of its humanoid robot, alongside pricing details that lay out how customers could either rent or buy the machine. The company said Digit 5 will begin early access in the first half of next year, with general availability by the end of 2027, and marks Agility's first push to sell the robot outside North America, starting with the EU and UK.

According to a Sept. 4 S-4 filing cited by the company, Agility is presenting two illustrative pricing paths for Digit 5. Under a robots-as-a-service model, customers would pay about $8,500 a month per robot, roughly $102,000 annually, plus a one-time deployment fee of about $25,000. Agility assumes a five-year useful life for the robot under this arrangement. Alternatively, customers could purchase Digit 5 outright for about $200,000. The company cautioned that these figures are illustrative and final customer contracts could vary.

The pricing accompanies a set of hardware and safety upgrades. Digit 5 can repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, about 40% more than Digit 4, and recharges in nine minutes, compared with one to two hours for its predecessor. Agility said this gives Digit 5 a 10-to-1 run-to-charge ratio versus 2-to-1 for Digit 4, potentially enabling more than 20 hours of productive work in a 24-hour period.

Agility also highlighted new safety features meant to let Digit 5 work closer to people without heavy reliance on physical barriers, including human detection, visual and audible safety cues, and an independent motion-control safety system. The company is working with Nvidia on this architecture and is the first launch partner for Nvidia's Halos for Robotics platform.

CEO Peggy Johnson said Digit 5 was built to specifications customers provided after three years of Digit 4 running on their production floors, according to the company's announcement.

Digit is manufactured at Agility's RoboFab facility in Salem, Oregon, which the company says has annual production capacity of up to 10,000 robots. Agility also operates facilities in Pittsburgh and Fremont, California.
